The town of Bocas, built by the United Fruit Company in the early 20th century, is home to most hotels, restaurants and grocery stores which are usually equipped for most of your everyday needs. This once sleepy little backpack town has now transformed into a gathering point for travelers of all ages discovering exactly what these islands have to offer. In fact many decided to change their travel plans and settle into the easy going island lifestyle. This small community is much like Key West, Florida in the 1960's. Most people use bicycles or walk to get around and the laid back feeling of paradise is enjoyed by all. Not only is Bocas considered at top tourist destination but also a popular place for second homes and retirement. The fact that Bocas, like the rest of Panama is located outside of the hurricane zone and has never had a hurricane on record is a large drawing point for many especially boaters. With breath taking white sand beaches, lush jungles, incredible wild life and endless ocean there is an adventure waiting for everyone.
